Camp Glentui
I
woke up felling calm and rested until my mum told me it was the 28th
of February. It was the time for camp and I forgot to pack my bags. I was so
worried I felt like a deer running for its life from hunters. I quickly brushed
my teeth, ate my breakfast and asked my mum to help me pack. I hurriedly got my
colossal blue bag, sleeping bag and other essential stuff and squeezed it
inside me dad’s car.
On my
drive to school I was excited and nervous at the same time. I was excited
because I couldn’t wait to do interesting activities at camp but I was nervous
because some activities might be scary or challenging.
In
about twenty minutes we arrived at school. I waited anxiously for everybody to
arrive and at 9o’clock we were ready to leave.
I was
in an enormous car with Dave, Tony, Vincent,
Brittany, Zia and the driver was
Zia’s dad. I was in the backseat with Dave and Tony. I brought a packet of
chips to eat. Tony was eating so slow he was like a baby slowly eating an apple
while Dave was eating so fast like a monkey who hasn’t eaten banana’s for a
long time while I was just eating like a normal human being. Dave and I were
about to fall asleep when Zia shouted, “Were almost at camp!” That made Dave
and I angry and then we started to complain and moan.
When
we arrived at camp
Dave and I walked to the
dining room. We waited for a long time to collect our bags from the trailer.
Once
we were aloud to go to our bunkrooms Dave, Jeremiah and I charged quickly to
our bunkroom. We soon realised the people in our bunk were Tim, Alex, Vincent,
Sean and Caleb. Our bunkroom was so clean it was like we had a housekeeper
cleaning our room.
Later
it was our first rotation and I did stream study. Stream study was fun and sometimes
freezing because you go into the water to get stones by kicking them.
After
stream study it was lunch time. I ate a donut for my lunch.
When
it was rotation two I did outdoor cooking with Mr Barr. We got into groups of
two. Campbell and I worked together. The whole group first collected dry
sticks, grass and flat stones. After that we made our pancake mixture. When the
mixture was done we made a fire. We used heaps of matches and then we used a
firelighter and the fire started. We cooked a pancake each. The fire was pretty
big but then we forgot to feed the fire so it died down.
I
walked up the stairs which had about two hundred steps and then it was free
time. Sean, Vincent and I couldn’t be stuffed swimming so we played uno. It was
so boring but later Dave and Jeremiah came back. We played games and later it
was dinner time.
For
dinner we had corn and pasta. It was tasty. The dessert we had was delicious.
After
that we went back to our bunkrooms. About two hours later we had milo and
biscuits. Later we went to bed.
The
next day I did sketching which was fun. I drew what we could see outside the
window.
Later
that day our group did initiative games. There was a game when you have a horse
and you put horse shoes on it.
It
was so fun I didn’t realise that lunch was ready. For lunch we had an oven
baked bun and we chose what ingredients to put in.
About
an hour later I was overjoyed because it was my turn to go abseiling. I put on
my harness and my hard hat and I waited until it was my turn. I walked slowly
and stealthily until I was on the edge. I looked down and fifteen metres seemed
a long drop. I slowly fed the rope and I started abseiling. It was kind of
frightening but it didn’t really matter because I was filled with enjoyment.
When I was almost at the bottom Phil called out, “Feed more rope in before
walking or you won’t go anywhere!” slowly but surely I was at the bottom. I was
so delighted because I abseiled.
When
I got back to my bunkroom I collapsed on my bed like the world trade centres
getting hit by the aeroplanes. I lied down and Vincent was in the room. We
talked and later it was dinner.
For
dinner we had drumsticks and vegetables. It was delicious. The dessert was
scrumptious.
Later
that night we played spotlight. On the first game Dave and I didn’t know where
to hide so we were caught. On the second game we hid in the long grass but we
were caught again. On the third and final game Dave and I hid in a bush. Once
again we were caught.
We
made our way upstairs, drank our milo and went to sleep. I was so exhausted I went
to sleep immediately.
I
woke up and it was the day for the walk. The Mt Richardson walk was cancelled
because of bad weather but we could do another walk that would take three
hours.
Dave,
Bailey and I got in Ms D’s car and she drove us there. We got dropped off at
the beginning of the track and then we walked.
We
walked for a long time. The parents gave us biscuits and little chocolate bars
to eat. When we asked Jan how much longer he said, “Fifteen minutes.” Then an
hour later we asked him again and he said, “Fifteen minutes.” According to Jan
the walk was only fifteen minutes but it was really five hours.
When
I got back I took a shower, ate dinner and watched a movie which was hilarious.
After that I went to my bunkroom. As soon as I lied down I fell asleep.
The
next day was cleaning day. It was fun because I didn’t get to clean and I got
to play games.
We
had lunch which was delicious and then we got ready to leave. I was in the last
car with Mrs Mac.
When
Mrs Mac started to drive there was a red car and she swerved out of the way.
After she passed that car we saw that Mr Barr and Mr Russell had crashed
because of the red car. Mrs Mac kept driving until we had reception and then
called Ms D to pick them up.
Overall
camp was fun, laughable and amusing and I will never forget what I did there
especially abseiling and the fifteen minute walk!
