Hunter's Recount

Camp Glentui Meadows

The day is here the day we leave for Camp Glentui. It’s the 28th and the school and I are all excited!

All of us get in our cars and off we go. We finally arrive at camp so we all start unpacking. Most of us head to our cabins and lay out our sleeping bags.

Later that day we started our rotation activities. First our group started with D.O.C. We were told to go fishing. My group caught lots of little insects and fish. Then we did a bit of studying on our creatures and the stream. We found out that the stream was very healthy and also that the water is almost the clearest you can get.

Soon after we had our lunch and then our group moved onto initiative games. We played lots of games like shoe the horse, snakes and a whole load more. It was great fun.

After that we had a little time in our cabins, we all start to play cards it was good fun and I won, yes! Then we had dinner and later off to bed.

We have had our beauty sleep and now it’s time for breakfast. We have toast and cereal.

Next we continued with our activities our group was at outdoor games it was great fun. I reckon softball was the best  because I love the sound when the ball hits the softball bat and I am pretty good at softball too.

Later that day we did abseiling. You had to slowly let go of the rope and walk down carefully around ledges and all kind of obstacles. The rock face wasn’t very high but it was still dangerous and also still fun.

We walked back from abseiling and grab some lunch yum!

Then off we go again we are doing outdoor cooking. We collect some wood and head to the cooking area. After building our fires and lighting them we put a can over top and put our pikelet mix over top of that. Soon they are finished and we made 9 of them. I reckon it was fun because you got to eat the food.

We came back to our camp and had some time in our cabins. Next we had dinner, it was delicious!

Later that night we played spotlight. The 1st round only four didn’t get caught and one of them was one of my best buddy Nicolas. The 2nd round the winners were Nicolas, Jeremiah, me and about 40 others. It was hilarious because when the whistle went for the end of the round everybody came out of their hiding spots yelling and screaming and whoo hooing! The next and final round about 10 people won but I didn’t. What a bummer.

We came back and it’s time for bed nooooo!

Wakie wakie rise and shine it’s time for breakfast. Thump, thump, thump as everyone comes racing down the stairs!

The camp finished breakfast and got ready for our walk. We soon started our walk. At first it is nice and easy but later it was a slow and steady 3hr walk uphill. When we finally reached the top we got a group picture and we all got in a group and got a photo. Then we started our 2hr trip down hill. Melissa, Noah, Caleb, Lucas and lots of others put mud on their faces, so weird. We all got to the bottom and we were all thinking we should have gone on the short walk but anyway this walk was only 15 minutes!

Yay, we are finally back to camp from our walk and we are all tired so we all went back to our cabins and played some games. Our cabin played cards again.

We all had tea in the hall we had fish and chips it was soooo good! Later we headed for our cabins to hit the hay.

Everybody in our cabin woke up and started packing our bags and sleeping bags. Once we finished packing we had to put our gear out front ready to go. We all did that and now it was time for breakfast.

The whole camp had breakfast in the hall together we were all a bit sad we were because it’s so much fun at camp Glentui.

Most of us went to outdoor games. You could either do soccer, volleyball, or cricket. I chose soccer: I don’t know what the score was because there was so many goals.

We came back from the outdoor games and had lunch and they told us we had to go. Noooooooo, I don’t want to go!

I think camp was fantastic and I want to go back as soon as possible, so thanks to all the parents, teachers and everybody else who made this possible.
