The Library Of Alexandria

The library of Alexandria had the most complete collection of books in the world and this carried on from 200 B.C (Before Christ) -A.D (after death)642

When the the library was burned down it was apparently Julius Caesar. He set fire to ships in port and the library must have caught alight and burned down. 40 000 books were lost.

The library was made out of wood but no one really knows.

The Library was in Ancient Egypt in the harbor of the Mediterranean sea

A museum was made on the shore of the Mediterranean sea and was joined onto the library but they don't exactly know if a separate building was made.

The Library of Alexandria was one of the great wonders of the world.

Dinosaurs By Jessica

Dinosaurs
The Dinosaur is a killing species.

Nobody knew what color Dinosaurs were but their skin
was scaly. Some of them had 4 legs some of them had 2 legs and some had 6 legs. A baby Dinosaur weighed the same as a mini car.

Dinosaurs lived all over the world.

Dinosaurs were vegetarian - most of them. The first ever Dinosaur appeared during the Triassic period 230 million years ago. They were small and lightweight.
Larger dinosaurs such as a Brachiosaur appeared during the Cretaceous period.

The dinosaur with the longest name is Micropachycephalosaurus (“small and thick headed
lizard”). Its bones are usually found in China.

Dinosaurs built nests and laid eggs. Some of them fed and protected their
babies.

People do not know if they like Dinosaurs because they are extinct.

Pandas mostly live in bamboo forest in the western mountains of China.

Pandas eat bamboo all day long in fact 99% of their diet is bamboo. In 2007 a report showed 239 pandas living in china and 27 out of the country.

Scientists are not sure how long pandas
live in the wild but the oldest panda that has lived in the zoo was aged 34 years old (1978-2012).

The panda is an endangered species.

Egyptian Pyramids

Egyptian Pyramids

Egyptian pyramids have fascinated many people with their structures and appearances.

The Egyptian pyramids are ancient masonry (stone) structures located in Egypt.   Many pyramids are in a horrible state of preservation because of being buried by desert sands. Pyramids didn't stay alone but were part of a group including temples,
and chapels (church) and other tombs. The Egyptians took pyramid design to new heights. The pyramid of Khufu stands 130 meters high and a 230 square meter base.

The earliest known Egyptian pyramids are found in Saqqara north west of Memphis. The earliest pyramid built is the pyramid of Djoser constructed from 2630 BCE -2611 BCE. The most recent pyramid found is the pyramid of Queen Sesheshet mother of the 6th dynasty Teti.

Some of the most famous pyramids are found on the outskirts of Cairo. Several pyramids in Giza are some of the biggest structures ever built. The pyramid of Khufu in Giza is the biggest pyramid found. There have been 138 pyramids found since 2008.

Most pyramids were made for the countries pharaohs. The estimate people to make a pyramid was about 1,000 to 100,000. The pyramid of Khufu is 1 of 7 wonders of the ancient world still in existence.

Pyramids are very popular tourist attractions and have been studied by archaeologist's for hundreds of years.

Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs are reptiles they are deadly.

Dinosaurs have scaly skin. Scientists believe that Dinosaurs shed skin just like snakes. Dinosaurs were quite small , most dinosaurs were human sized or even smaller . Dinosaurs tail were over 45 f long (that's twice the size of a normal class room).

These Dinosaur lived all over the world in every continent  even Antarctica!

Dinosaurs lived between 230 million years ago and 65 million year ago.

Most Dinosaurs are vegetarian but their are meat Dinosaurs. Meat eating Dinosaurs had bones filled with air though their bones were huge they weren’t as heavy as they looked.

The Dinosaur hotspots right now are South Africa,  Argintina and China

Even through nobody has seen Dinosaurs scientists have discovered what they look like from fossils.

Sabre-Toothed Tigers

Sabre-toothed tigers(also known mistakenly as Saber-Toothed Tigers)lived in ice age, about 10,000 years ago. Their saber liked teeth, hence the name Sabre-Toothed tiger, and their fearsome nature are their most well known characteristics.

The name "Sabre-Toothed Tiger" is a actually a misleading name since they are not closely related to tigers. They are a "Felidae" (The True Cat Family) They have two sabre-like teeth called canines. They are usually about 40 cm long. Some species have canines up to 50 cm. They extends down the jaw even if its mouth is closed. They are the size of an African Tiger. Some species grow up to 4.6 meters! They weigh about half a ton(460 kg). Sabre-Toothed Tigers are a "Synapsids"(Ancestral to mammals but not quite mammals.)

Sabre-Toothed Tigers hunts are predators that hunts large animals such as mammoth, sloth, deer, antelope, buffalo...etc. They usually hunt more superior animals in a pack (a group). A Plausible hypothesis suggests that the Sabre-toothed tiger used the sabre teeth to deliver fatal wounds to belly or the throat. They most likely don't grapple with prey. Instead they would deliver a crippling stab and wait for the animal to die. Unlike lions, jaguar and cheetahs(which has a long tail to turn directions) It has a bob tail. This proves that the Sabre-toothed tiger did not chase the preys down, instead they would charge from ambush as the prey slowly walk towards the Sabre-Toothed Tiger.

Sabre-Toothed Tigers most likely fought for food, shelter and mates just like other predators. Some fossils of the Sabre-Toothed Tiger was found with deadly virus or severe injuries. Even so, a lot of them lived much longer than what is expected. This shows that either they can heal and tremendous speed, or they care for each other. (Most likely cared for each other which means that they are social carnivores.)

Most Sabre-Toothed Tigers Fossils were found in Europe and Asia, but recently they found fossils in California. This shows that most Sabre-Toothed Tigers lived on ice, but some moved to North America and lived on grassy and woody habitat.

Sabre-Toothed Tigers are special, impressive and fearsome predators that should be respected.

The Turtle By Krishant

                                          TURTLE

A turtle is a  scaly reptile with an oval shaped shell which they use as their house. They have been around for 215 million years.

A turtles shell is made out of 50 different bones. They hide inside their shell when they are scared. Their hard shell is like a shield.

Turtles lay their eggs inside the sand. Then they leave their babies to grow on their own.

Green sea turtles are 6ft tall and can weigh up to 700 pounds.  They are one of the largest turtles in the world.  They can live up to 80 years.
They can be found in shallow coastal, bays and lagoons.

Turtles are reptiles that have shells like shields,  and can be found in
water  all around the world.
