This is where you will find information about your home reading and basic facts to practise.

Home Reading:
40 minutes a week minimum please. Use www.stuff.co.nz or www.nzherald.co.nz so you are reading non-fiction texts. This will help you with the kind of vocbulary you will need at high school.

Maths: www.IXL. com The basic facts you need to practise are below (I've bolded the most applicable to you). IXL - an hour a week if you're in Mr B's maths class or 40 minutes MINIMUM/week otherwise. See your maths teacher for which objectives to do.


Which Facts are Important?


Stage 0-3
  • addition and subtraction facts to 5
  • doubles to 10
Stage 4
  • add/sub facts to 10
  • doubles to 10 and halves from 20
  • “Ten and” facts
  • Multiples of 10 that add to 100
Stage 5
  • addition facts to 20
  • subtraction facts from 10
  • multiplication facts 2,5,10
  • multiples of 100 that add to 1000
Stage 6
  • addition and subtraction facts to 20
  • multiplication facts to 10 x
  • multiplying by 10,100,1000
Stage 7
  • division facts to 10 x table
  • fraction-decimal-percentage conversions for halves, quarters, thirds, fifths and tenths
  • divisibility rules for 2,3,5,9 and 10
  • squares to 100
  • factors of numbers to 100
  • common multiples of numbers to 10
Stage 8
  • fraction/decimal/percentage conversions
  • divisibility rules for 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10
  • simple powers of numbers to 10
  • common factors and highest common factors for numbers up to 100
  • least common multiples of numbers to 10

1. Use the links on the right to practice the Times Tables, fractions and percentages. 
2. Use Mr Barr's Maths Blog to practice the others . . .  (still in progress, but adding to it as we go!)
