Jayden's Camp Recount

Glentui meadows

On Tuesday the 28th of February Syndicate 4 went on a camp.
The camp site was called “Glentui.” The first day (when we got there)
we set up our bunkrooms and then started our first rotation. First my group had outdoor cooking with Mr. Barr, I made 2 pikelets.
We had that for 45 minutes. Then it was time to pack up and get ready for more!

Then we had morning tea and had a 20 minute break.
After that we had another rotation. This time we had initiative games with Mrs. Black.  My favorite game was when we got blindfolded and had to put cups on the legs of the chairs.

Now it was time for lunch.
For lunch today we had rolls filled with ham and vegetables.
I had carrot, lettuce, cheese, mayo, cucumber, and ham.
Then we had a break followed by a swim in the pool and then tea.

We had a little bit of a play and then went to bed. Finally it was morning, we all got up and got ready to start the day.
For breakfast I had 2 pieces of toast. Shortly after,
we continued our rotations. Next we had DOC (river studies)
In river studies we had to catch little creatures that live underneath rocks by moving the stones and holding a net up next to it.

Straight after that we had outdoor games with Mr. Russell
We played softball. My team obviously won because it had me in it!
Soon after that we went back up the stairs and back to our cabins.
Now it was lunch time. Today we had the leftovers of the rolls.

Rotation time again! Yay, the rotation we’d all been waiting for: abseiling! The first person to go was Bailey Chamberlain,
Followed by Noah Chamberlain then it was my turn. I slowly lowered myself down to the rocks then I slowly climbed down. Rather, I walked down. Now I had to choose what path I wanted to take, the dry easy one or the mossy, slippery, wet one. I choose the wet one because I knew I would only get one turn. One hour later abseiling was over and we headed back to the camp site and had lunch.

Surprisingly it wasn’t rolls it was pasta and hot chips. Once again because it was so hot we had a swim in the pool, had a play and had tea.
For tea today we had chicken and chips.

We finished our tea and then we didn’t go to bed we played SPOTLIGHT! But I only won one game. Riain, Noah, and Caleb cheated. Because they hid in a bush and didn’t come out when a new game was starting. Then we went up had a hot cup of Milo then went to bed. Wakey Wakey, today we had to go on a tramp either a 3 hour one
or a 5 hour one. I wanted to go on the long one, but apparently my jacket wasn’t “waterproof” enough. So I had to go on the shorter one. We left at 2pm and got back at 5pm. Unlucky for some the other group didn’t get back until 7.30pm. Shame! We were all very tired up.

At about 6pm, Naomi (the abseiling instructor) told us all about all of the necessary survival items and we had to list them in an order of importance. Then two people got wet! One person was properly dressed and the other wasn’t. One was dressed in a beanie, tights, a jersey, and a jacket. The other one was dressed in a cotton t-shirt and shorts. 8 people had a cup of cold water each and splashed the victims.

Then it was Mr. Bean time! We all watched the Mr. Bean disaster movie, had a cup of hot Milo and then went to sleep. The next morning we got up at about 8 o’ clock, packed our bags, had breakfast, had a play and then had lunch. For lunch today we had a sausage sizzle with either a bun or bread, followed by a stampede of chocolate, biscuits, lollies and more. Then we all got in our cars and went back home.
I enjoyed camp a lot and hope I can go on one again!
