Brock's Camp Recount

                                            Camp Glentui

On Monday night at about 7:30pm  I started to pack my gear like clothes, torch, hat, beanie, book, sleeping bag, two pairs of shoes, first aid kit and bug repellent.

On Tuesday morning I woke up at 6:30am! The reason for waking up so early is because I heard the T.V turn on and I had a alarm on so I didn’t sleep in and miss going on camp. When I got to school I was waiting for about 30 minutes until we left.

We were driving for about 1 hour and 20 minutes and were just about there when I saw fog covering the top of the mountain. Then we were going over little jumps and I saw camp ahead.

When we got there we took or bags into the dinning hall. Then when everyone was there we met Jan and Gea and they were talking about the camp for about 10 minutes or so. Then we went to our rooms to put our bags away and then we ate the lunch we brought.

Next we went to the common room to see what activity we were doing. I was doing D.O.C river study first, they said that brown algae was good. Next we got into groups. I was in a group with Riain and 3 others. We were catching things like Dobson flies and Mayflies. After that we looked at how clean the water and it was clean.
Then we finished our D.O.C river study and we went up to camp to warm up and waited for our next activity.

My favourite activity of all was abseiling, I was so excited when it was our activity at first I thought it would be huge but it was small. When it was my turn I was the fifth person to go down I saw Riain going down because he was third. I liked going fifth because I was right in the middle. When you started going down it was small and there was a mossy part you could go down but it was super slippery.

On Thursday we went on a loop track or the Mount Richardson walk. It was slippery because it was raining heavily on the night before. When you were going down hill you would start to slip a little and you had to be careful that you wouldn’t go into a tree. When we got to the end we had a 5-10 minute break then we started our walk back to camp and on our walk back it started to hail.

On Friday we woke up at the normal time 7:30am then we had breakfast at 8:00am. We packed up our gear into our bags and put them out front. Some people were cleaning and everyone else playing sport. I was playing non stop cricket for one and a half hours then we went back up for lunch. We went back down for about a hour or so. Now we went back up and it was time to go. It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get back to school and my mum was there taking me home.

The camp was exciting because I got to do things that I don’t think I would have done for ages. I can’t wait for my next camp.
